Memories and Intelligence Discussion

Description

Flashbulb memories are very powerful because they involve emotional stimuli. They are very vivid no matter how long it’s been since the memory occurred. For example, many people can recall what they were doing the moment they found out about 9/11. Think of a memory that is very vivid with you. What is this memory? What contributes to the reasons why it’s so powerful?

Garner wrote about his theory of multiple intelligences. He stressed that mathematical and verbal intelligences were simply not enough of the picture to someone’s total intelligence. Look at the 8 intelligences that Gardner discusses and answer the following questions:

  1. In your opinion, what intelligences are strongest for you and why?
  2. Do you think it is important to measure intelligence this way? Why or why not?

Intelligence has many environmental factors associated with it. Why is environment so important in the development of intelligence?
